Southern police asked to control violations and criminal activities on traffic routes
PSNews-The Department of Traffic Police (C67) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) organized a conference on ensuring traffic order and safety in Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring provinces on March 16.

Recently, C67, the Ho Chi Minh City (HCMC) Municipal Police and neighboring provinces (including Binh Duong, Dong Nai, Ba Ria - Vung Tau, Tay Ninh, Long An, Tien Giang) have developed action plans and programs for 2017,said Major General Nguyen Quoc Diep, Deputy Director of the Traffic Police Department.
Particularly, during the peak campaign to ensure traffic order and safety, and security for the New Year,Tet (lunar New Year festival) and spring festivals, local authorities deployed all forces and assets, and implemented comprehensive measures to minimize the number of traffic accidents, and to control traffic flows to reduce traffic jams in urban areas, especially in HCMC. What is more, the local police force promptly and resolutely tackled illegal motorbike races, effectively prevented and suppressed criminal activities, and trafficking of firecrackers, weapons, explosives, police support tools and counterfeit goods as well as other violations of the laws on the road.
Vice Minister Nguyen Van Son proposed that the police forces of relevant provinces and cities continue to implement effectively the plan of the Ministry of Public Security to prevent traffic congestions, to improve the quality of basic professional work so as to better ensure traffic safety and prevent crimes on the road. It is also important to frequently conduct surveys and propose approaches to settle limitations in organizing traffic and handling black spots of traffic accidents.
He also asked provincial-level traffic police forces to increase traffic patrols to ensure traffic safety and order in key areas, and to promote application of information technology and effective use of modern technical equipment in handling violations.
Additionally, the Deputy Minister asked the police forces of the provinces and cities to effectively implement programs and regulations of coordination with the Fatherland Front of Vietnam and its member organizations in ensuring traffic safety and order, fighting crimes on traffic routes and promoting the movement "All people participating in ensuring the traffic safety and order". It is also necessary to disseminate information and mobilize the people to actively participate in combating crimes and ensuring traffic safety.
