Vietnam, China enhance cooperation in combating human trafficking

The annual conference on combatting human trafficking between Vietnam and China took place on April 18, in Ho Chi Minh City.

Major General Nguyen Phong Hoa - Deputy Director of the General Department of Police under the Public Security Ministry of Vietnam and Mr. Chen Shiuqu - Deputy Director of the Criminal Investigation Department under the Public Security Ministry of China co-chaired the event.
In 2016 and Q1-2017, functional forces investigated and discovered 195 cases illegally transporting people to China, and rescued 490 victims.
Additionally, at the meeting, participants discussed and agreed to prioritize the implementation of the Agreement of 2017.
With the aim of improving the efficiency of combat against human trafficking, public security forces of the two countries will continue exchanging information and collaborate closely in investigating cases in the spirit of the Agreement, and in accordance with the laws of each country.
