According to a representative of the An Giang Provincial Police Department, by October 14, 2021, An Giang had recorded 7,276 infection cases of COVID-19, of which 4,973 had recovered and 97 had died.

Since October 1st, nearly 55,000 people of An Giang origin have returned home from Ho Chi Minh City and other provinces. It is estimated that about 1,000-2,000 people travelled through the gateways to Long Xuyen city of An Giang per day.

In response to the situation, police units of An Giang actively cooperate with relevant forces to detect COVID patients and close contacts.

Along with the fight against the pandemic, the provincial police of An Giang successfully maintained local security, social order and safety; as a result, the number of criminal offenses in the two provinces reduced.

On behalf of MPS, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly appreciated the efforts of the provincial police of An Giang in preventing and controlling the pandemic as well as ensuring security, social order and safety over the past time.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung emphasized that the security and disease situation in An Giang was basically controlled. However, the provincial police should be on alert against risks of disease outbreaks when a large number of people are returning home from other provinces.
