Commune-level police obtain achievements in maintaining local public order and security in Quang Nam

Peace, security and order in Tam Lanh commune of Phu Ninh district in Quang Nam province, where was once reknowned for illegal gold mining activities near Bong Mieu mine, has been restored over the past time,  thanks to the effective operation of recently deployed communal police officers.

Tam Lanh, a mountainous commune, is 30km southwest of the administrative center of Phu Ninh district. The locality has 6 villages with a population of more than 7,000 people. Among them, 91 are of the Cor ethnic minority.

Since 2016, as the factory of Bong Mieu Gold Mining Co., Ltd. stopped operating, nearly 365 hectares of land formally exploited by the business became an illegal mining , where a large number of people of all kinds gathered and illegally exploited gold causing insecurity and disorder.

Against the backdrop, the Chairman of the People's Committee of Quang Nam province directed the People's Committee of Phu Ninh district while the Director of the Quang Nam Provincial Police ordered police forces from the Phu Ninh District Police Station and Tam Lanh Commune Police Post to step up patrol, inspection, and fight against illegal gold miners.

At the same time, local officials mobilized people not to participate in illegal gold mining but do business in accordance with the laws.

Recently, the local police force paid much attention to ensuring pubic order and security in the commune by launching dozens of raids on illegal gold mining activities in the area. As a result, the area has become peaceful again.

It is evident that the grassroots police force has played an important role in ensuring order and security and created a stable and peaceful environment for socio-economic development in the locality.

Additionally, the communal police force has actively advised the local Party committees and authorities on the work of protecting local security and order. In return, the communal Party committees and authorities have effectively supported commune-level police officers in performing their duties of ensuring security and order at the grassroots level.

Nguyen Van Su, Chairman of the Tam Lanh Communal People’s Committee underscored the presence of the professional police officers in his commune, saying that the deployment of professional police officers had brought significant results in terms of security and order situation in the locality.
