The Counter-Narcotics Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security held a conference, on the morning of December 28, 2022, to review the counter-narcotics police force’s task performance in 2022 and roll out the 2023 work program.

Director of the Counter-Narcotics Police Department Major General Nguyen Van Vien chaired the conference, which also saw the presence of Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc.

In 2022, the Counter-Narcotics Police Department continued playing its core role in the fight against crimes related to illicit drug trafficking and abuse, and directed the nationwide counter-narcotics force to prevent and control illicit drug trafficking.

For its outstanding achievements in 2022, the Counter-Narcotics Police Department was honored with the First Class “Victory” Medal by the President, received a letter of commendation from the Prime Minister and the “emulation” Flag from the Government while various subunits and officers were rewarded different honours.

Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the Counter-Narcotics Police Department should recommend the Public Security Central Party Committee and the Ministry of Public Security to advise the Government to direct other ministries and localities to draw plans to prevent and control crimes related to illicit drug trafficking and abuse.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc suggested that the Counter-Narcotics Police Department should strengthen the commanding system of the counter-narcotics force with a focus on leaders of grassroots-level units while expanding international cooperation in the fight against illicit drug trafficking.
