Creating a safe and secure environment for Ho Chi Minh City’s development
PSNews - The Ho Chi Minh City Police Department held a conference on the morning of December 28, 2022, to review the local police’s task performance in 2022 and roll out the 2023 work program. Minister of Public Security General To Lam and Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen attended and delivered keynote speeches at the meeting.
The event also saw Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee for Defense and Security Lieutenant General Le Tan Toi, member of the Party Central Committee, Vice Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People's Committee Ngo Minh Chau, leaders of local agencies and police units.
Delivering a summary report, Director of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department Major General Le Hong Nam said that the local police always proactively grasped the order and security situation so as to promptly advise the Ministry of Public Security and the Ho Chi Minh Party Committee and People’s Committee to issue policies and solutions to effectively settle complex order and security problems in the city, as well as resolutely fought and defeated all plots and acts by hostile forces.
During the year, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department took professional and social prevention measures, sent armed patrol teams to maintain security and order across the city, launched a number of campaigns to attack criminals and addressed emerging complex issues; as a result, the number of criminal cases decreased by 7.37% compared to the same period in 2019 while the clearance rate of criminal cases and cases of corruption and economic wrongdoings was high, exceeding several set targets.
Following the direction of the leadership of the Ministry of Public Security, the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department made special effort to implement Project 06.
Speaking at the conference, Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen spoke highly of the effort of the Ho Chi Minh City police, saying that the local police had contributed significantly to the general achievements of Ho Chi Minh City.
Secretary of the City Party Committee Nguyen Van Nen affirmed that that the city’s leadership and people will continue to support the People's Public Security Forces in general, and the Ho Chi Minh City police in particular, in the future.
Speaking at the conference, Minister To Lam thanked the Party Committee, the People's Council, the People's Committee of Ho Chi Minh City as well as local agencies, branches and mass organizations for their great support and close coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City police.
The Minister stressed that the mission the city’s police force undertakes is heavy but very glorious so it is recommended that the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department should hold strategic initiative, early detect risks, challenges and difficulties so as to proactively and promptly advise local Party committees and authorities to effectively handle complex security and order situations.
The Minister underscored that the key task of the city’s police in 2023 and the whole term of office is to build the local police as a truly clean, strong, regular, elite and modern force to meet the task requirements in the new situation according to Resolution No. 12 of the Politburo.
Minister To Lam also suggested that the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department deploy forces, means and measures to ensure absolute security and safety for national-level events to take place in the city, as well as preserve the peaceful life for the city’s people, make the city an ideal destination for investment, business and tourism.
The local police should also take drastic and synchronous approaches to ensure traffic order and safety, prevent fire and explosion in the city.
