Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung inspects Thu Duc and Huy Khiem Prisons

PSNews - Major General Le Quoc Hung, Deputy Minister of Public Security and Commander of the Interim Front Command of the Ministry of Public Security (MPS) on July 31 visited Thu Duc Prison (located in Ham Tam district) and Huy Khiem Prison (located in Tanh Linh district, Binh Thuan province).

At the meeting with the prisons’ leadership and staff, the wardens of the two prisons briefed the Deputy Minister on the situation of COVID-19 pandemic in the two prisons, saying that the two units have actively implemented the strongest pandemic prevention and control measures with the aims of protecting the health of their officers, soldiers, and prisoners as well as keeping the prisons safe.

Deputy Minister Hung then requested the two prisons to immediately set up quarantine areas for COVID-19-infected suspects and inmates while suspending physical inmate visitations to prevent the spread of the disease in the prisons.

Based on the local pandemic situation, the two prisons should coordinate with the Center for Disease Control of Binh Thuan province to propose appropriate working procedures for the Procuracy agencies, Investigation agencies, and inmates in order to prevent the spread of the disease.

At the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung presented Thu Duc and Huy Khiem prisons’ staff with many gifts, including sets of protective clothing, masks, hand sanitizers, and antiseptic solution.

Earlier, on same day, Major General Le Quoc Hung worked with the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department on COVID-19 prevention and control in the province.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung requested the Binh Thuan Provincial Police Department to strictly follow the directions of the Government, the MPS, local Party committees and authorities on the pandemic prevention and control while equipping on-duty police officers and soldiers with sufficient medical supplies and protective equipment to ensure absolute safety for them.

Additionally, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung asked the Binh Thuan police to closely coordinate with the Department of Cybersecurity and Hi-tech Crimes to ensure information security in cyberspace, prevent and handle cases of spreading false information about the local COVID-19 situation, causing worry and anxiety among people, especially workers in industrial parks.
