Deputy Minister of Public Security Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung hosted a meeting with Ms. Victoria Pullen, Director of Immigration Enforcement under the UK Home Office, on January 19, 2024, in Hanoi.

Warmly welcoming Ms. Victoria Pullen and her entourage to the Ministry of Public Security, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung stated that the visit demonstrated effective and practical cooperation between the Ministry of Public Security and the UK Home Office.

In the field of law enforcement, the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam and the UK Home Office had been cooperating closely in crime prevention and control, contributing to protecting national security, order and safety in each country.

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung proposed that the two sides strengthen the bilateral cooperation and relationship in a practical and effective manner, contributing to building political trust and deepening the Vietnam - UK strategic partnership.

The two sides also need to effectively implement signed cooperation documents such as the 2018 Memorandum of Cooperation on Human Trafficking Prevention and Control, the 2013 Memorandum of Understanding on Sharing Immigration Information, and the Memorandum of Understanding on Migration Issues in 2004.

At the same time, the two sides need to maintain delegation visits and exchange activities at all levels to share work experiences and join effort in preventing and combating human trafficking, team up to investigate cases relating the two countries, exchange information on organized criminal networks, support each other to arrest and hand over wanted fugitives as well as coordinate with each other in protecting, rescuing and repatriating victims of human trafficking.

In addition, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung asked the UK side to increase coordination in implementing law dissemination projects so as to make people more aware of safe migration while preventing and combating illegal migration.

* Immediately after the meeting, the Ministry of Public Security held a ceremony to present the "National Security Protection" medal awarded by the Minister of Public Security to Mr. Mark Holton, Head of Immigration Section at the British Embassy in Hanoi, Representative Officer of International Cooperation under the UK Home Office in Vietnam.
