Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc learns lessons of digital transformation from the Netherlands

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc affirmed that the valuable experience of the Netherlands in building and managing residential database and enhancing digital transformation will help Vietnam step up the building of a digital economy, a green economy, and a circular economy, contributing to socio-economic development of Vietnam.

Within the framework of the official visit to the Kingdom of the Netherlands of Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh, on December 12, 2022, the Government's Project 06 delegation led by Deputy Minister Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc had a meeting with the National Office on Identity Data, Logius Room, the Digital Society Department of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands to learn Dutch experiences in the application of population data, connection and data sharing between agencies and the National Population Database.

At the working sessions, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and other delegates spent a lot of time learning about the process of developing digital transformation from Dutch technology experts.

The two sides exchanged professional measures to deny counterfeiting citizen's identity, methods of detection and prevention at a high level, the control and operation of the system; management of foreigners living and working in the country, the process of connecting and sharing data among ministries, sectors and fields in society, as well as methods of management and sharing of information publicly, ensuring that the information is shared correctly and without errors.

The representative of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands and Dutch experts on digital transformation briefed Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc and other delegates on methods of guiding people toward the process of data development, which is the responsibility of all ministries, especially officials and employees of the Government's management agencies.

In the Netherlands, when a child is born in a hospital, the medical staff there are responsible for instructing the baby's father and mother to complete the procedures for "digital citizenship". 

According to them, to get success in digital transformation, the responsibility is "split", and then clearly divided to each individual in society.

Concluding the meeting, on behalf of the Government's Project 06 delegation, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc thanked the representative of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations and experts on digital transformation for their sharing of experiences. 

He expressed delight at visiting and working with the National Office for Identity Data, Logius Room, Digital Society Department of the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations of the Netherlands.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc said that in order to promote digital transformation, the Government of Vietnam has a policy to apply population data, electronic identification and electronic authentication to national digital transformation, for benefits of people and businesses.

In the coming time, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc hopes that the Netherlands will strengthen ties and cooperation, assisting Vietnam in digital transformation, population management and data management.
