Major General Nguyen Van Long joins National Traffic Safety Committee
Standing Deputy Prime Minister (PM) Pham Binh Minh signed a decision to appoint Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Van Long as Vice Chairman of the National Traffic Safety Committee.
According to the decision, Lieutenant General Khuat Viet Dung, Vice Chairman of Vietnam Veterans’ Association will also be a new member of the committee.
Standing Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh currently heads the National Traffic Safety Committee.
Under Decision 22/2017/QD-TTg issued by the PM on June 22, 2017, the National Traffic Safety Committee is an inter-agency coordinator responsible for assisting the PM in directing ministries, sectors and localities to implement national strategies and projects on ensuring traffic safety and order as well as deploy interdisciplinary solutions on this field on a national scale.
In addition, the committee is tasked with supporting the PM to direct and administer the coordination among ministries, sectors and localities to deal with and overcome the consequences of severe traffic accidents and issues, related to traffic safety, instructing and inspecting the implementation of plans and solutions to ensure traffic safety and order.
