 The Ministry of Public Security held a meeting with the Drafting Committee and the Editing Team of the draft law on forces participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level (draft law), on March 7, 2023, in Hanoi.

Deputy Minister of Public Security, deputy head of the Drafting Committee of the draft law Lieutenant General Le Quoc Hung chaired the meeting.

Reports at the meeting stated that the major contents of the draft law were revised compared to the previous version submitted to the National Assembly for comments at the 10th meeting of the 14th National Assembly. After being revised, the draft law has a new structure, which includes 5 chapters and 31 articles (cut down by 4 articles from the previous version).

At the meeting, delegates discussed the new draft law and basically agreed with its content. They also gave the Drafting Board and the Editorial Team a number of recommendations, such as adding power to the forces participating in ensuring security and order at the grassroots, clarifying the functions and tasks of the forces involved in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level to avoid overlapping with other forces, specifying the ages of citizens participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level, clearly define the relationship of forces participating in maintaining security and order at the grassroots level with the local authorities.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung highly appreciated conductive opinions and ideas of the delegates at the meeting. 

Deputy Minister Le Quoc Hung suggested that the Department of Legal Affairs and Judicial Reform and members of the Drafting Committee take the opinions and ideas into consideration while revising the draft law with sufficient scientific evidence and in line with reality.
