Ministry of Public Security steps up the drafting of National Target Program on Drug Control towards 2030

Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Permanent Deputy Head of the Steering Committee for Drafting the National Target Program on Drug Control towards 2030, chaired a meeting of the Steering Committee on the afternoon of May 21st, in Hanoi.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Labor, Invalids and Social Affairs Nguyen Van Hoi, Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Information and Communication Nguyen Thanh Lam and representatives from ministries, branches and agencies.

Implementing the direction of the Prime Minister on the drafting of a National Target Program on Drug Control towards 2030, the Ministry of Public Security in coordination with ministries, branches and agencies invested considerable resources in drafting the program with a high sense of resonsibility and in an active and methodical manner.

With its strong determination to complete the draft program on time, the Ministry of Public Security organized a ministerial appraisal council to evaluate the draft of the National Target Program on Drug Control towards 2030 on May 10th, and all members generally reached consensus on the draft program.

Up to now, the Ministry of Public Security has completed the draft report on the program and sub-projects, which will be submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.

At the meeting, delegates discussed issues related to the draft report and proposed to revise several sub-projects, ensuring that the program will accord with the criteria for a national target program.

Concluding the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc sincerely thanked the participating ministries, branches and agencies for the close coordination with the Ministry of Public Security in drafting the program. He also asked the assistant group to complete the documents based on delegates’ comments and suggestions in order to submit them to the Prime Minister for approval by June 20th, 2024.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy also suggested relevant ministries, branches and agencies continue to closely cooperate with the Ministry of Public Security’s Standing Agency in the preparation for State-level appraisal of the program before submitting to the National Assembly for approval.
