MPS hosts seminar on role of Vietnamese intellectuals in protecting Party’s ideological foundation
The Ministry of Public Security held a scientific symposium titled "Vietnamese intellectuals in the cause of protecting the Party’s ideological foundation" on the morning of November 17, in Hanoi.
The event took place under the chair of Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security Senior Lieutenant General, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Quoc To, who is also a member of the Central Theoretical Council.
Addressing the seminar, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To highlighted the important position of intellectuals by citing the 7th Meeting of the 10th Central Committee’s Resolution No. 27 dated August 6, 2008, on building a contingent of intellectuals in the period of national industrialization and modernization.
According to him, the meeting aimed to analyze, evaluate, and clarify the role and contributions of Vietnamese intellectuals, including scientists working in the Public Security Forces, in the cause of protecting the Party, the political system, and refuting wrong and hostile views.
The meeting also focused on clarifying the concept of intellectuals in general and those working in the Public Security Forces, so as to define the missions of the Vietnamese intelligentsia in protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in the current context.
The seminar’s organizing board received 40 reports on theoretical and practical issues from leaders of Central agencies, ministries, branches, prestigious scientists inside and outside the People's Public Security Forces.
At the meeting, delegates also gave opinions directly discussing and clarifying important issues on the important role and contributions of Vietnamese intellectuals, including those working in the Public Security Forces, to the cause of protecting the Party’s ideological foundation in the current situation as well as their advantages and disadvantages in the struggle for the Party’s ideological foundation.
Delegates also proposed policies for and approaches to develop the Vietnamese intelligentsia so that they can contribute more to the cause of protecting the Party’s ideological foundation.
Concluding the symposium, Deputy Minister Tran Quoc To thanked representatives of agencies, ministries, departments and organizations for participating and giving ideas in the meeting, and appreciated those who sent reports to the meeting.
He asked the organizing board to consider the ideas given and reports sent to the symposium so as to complete the summary record of the symposium.
