MPS reviews task performance of Public Security Forces in November

The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held a meeting on November 26 to review all activities of the Public Security Forces in the month and roll out work plans for the last month of the year. General To Lam, Politburo Member and Minister of Public Security, chaired the event.

Lieutenant General To An Xo, Chief of the MPS Office, briefed delegates at the event on major activities and achievements of the forces in November as well as orientations for tasks in the following month.

The report revealed, the number of social order offenses decreased 17.72% compared to the same period last year.

Police forces at all levels succeeded in preventing and fighting crimes during and after COVID-19 waves while focusing on the investigation of economic cases involving high-ranking officials and corruption.

The police also detected and investigated over 1,400 drug-related cases, arresting 2,400 people involved, seizing 62 kg of heroin, 205 kg and over 127,000 pills of synthetic drugs and 5 kg of marijuana.

The police forces discovered and handled 1,700 cases of violating the law on environmental protection with 1,841 persons involved.

The month also saw a number of cases related to high-tech crime and cyber fraud.

Apart from implementing their main duties, the police forces nationwide also participated 86 rescue missions, saving lives of 32 people and moving 460 people trapped in flooding and rescuing 31 people from fire.

The public security press agencies have also successfully fulfilled their tasks.

Public security media fully covered the 2nd session of the 15th National Assembly, especially the Q&A session, disseminated the Law on Mobile Police Force as well as reflected the study of the Resolution of the 13th Party Congress in the Public Security Forces.

The news agencies under the MPS published 300 articles on good examples of public security officers and soldiers who had made feats of arms in protecting national security and maintaining public order as well as in preventing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Public security media also highlighted the participation of the Public Security Forces in prevention and response to natural disasters while actively fighting hostile forces’ wrong views and fake information.

Lieutenant General To An Xo stressed 9 major tasks of the Public Security Forces in December, including absolutely protecting national security and maintaining public order and safety in all fields, speeding up and completing the investigation of major cases, proposing prosecution of key economic cases under the supervision of the Central Steering Committee for Anti-Corruption.

Police forces at all levels should focus on the fight against all types of crimes, particularly drug trafficking, economic, environmental and high-tech crimes, and organized crime.

Police forces should also pay due attention to ensuring traffic safety, preventing and fighting fire and explosion, speeding up the issuance of ID cards, updating the National Population Database with citizens’ personal vaccination information.

Speaking at the event, Minister To Lam emphasized that the current situation in the world and the region require the Public Security Forces to give timely advice to the Party and State on policies to ensure peace, national sovereignty and security, creating favorable conditions for national economic development.

Minister To Lam appreciated the efforts and achievements of the entire Public Security Forces over the past time.

He asked all public security agencies and units to grasp the situation to promptly advise the Party and State to successfully settle issues related to national security and public order.

They should advise the local Party organizations and authorities to well implement policies on social welfare, economic recovery and development of all aspects, as well as public order and safety during the upcoming Traditional New Year.

All public security agencies and units should take measure to prevent and fight criminal activities during and after COVID-19 waves.
