Police of An Giang promote ties with Cambodian counterparts
The An Giang Provincial Police Department held a meeting with police forces of the two provinces of Taikeo and Kandal, Cambodia on July 29.
This was part of the events to mark the 55th anniversary of the establishment of Vietnam – Cambodian diplomatic relations (June 26, 1967 – 2022).
Over the past years, the police from the Vietnamese province of An Giang and Cambodian police forces of Taikeo and Kandal provinces have strengthened bilateral cooperation in all areas, especially in crime prevention and combat.
The two sides also coordinated to protect important political, social and cultural events, including the inauguration of border landmarks and Long Binh – Chrey Thom Bridge in 2017, and co-held various bilateral exchange events.
Speaking at the meeting held, chiefs of the police forces of the two Cambodian provinces appreciated the close and effective coordination of the An Giang Provincial Police Department in crime prevention and combat along the shared border lines.
They also thanked the An Giang Provincial Police Department for its large support for the police forces in Takeo and Kandal during the COVID-19 pandemic.
For his part, Director of the An Giang Provincial Police Department Senior Colonel Dinh Van Noi spoke highly of the cooperation of the Cambodian police forces and hoped that the police forces of the sides would further exchange information and closely coordinate in crime prevention and combat, contributing to ensuring security and order along the shared border.
He also underlined that illegal immigration, cross-border illicit drug trafficking, terrorism and human trafficking in border areas see complicated developments. He revealed that a large number of Vietnamese citizens that have been tricked and trafficked to Cambodia are subject to forced labor and property expropriation, and some are in life-threatening situations.
On this occasion, police forces of the two sides participated in a friendship volleyball match.
