Police take creative measures to speed up e-ID card issuance program after lockdown
After pandemic-hit localities such as Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City lift the lockdown, local police continue to issue chip-based ID cards (e-ID cards) for citizens
In Hanoi, the Long Bien district police used specialized buses as mobile e-ID card issuance stations. With specialized equipment fitted to the vehicles, police officers quickly travelled to villages to provide e-ID card issuance services for local people.
QR codes were affixed on the buses so that e-ID card applicants could scan and make online health declarations, contributing to preventing COVID-19.
The Long Bien district police have planned to deploy mobile police teams to issue e-ID cards to local people until the end of November 2021.
As soon as Ho Chi Minh City loosened social distancing, the police of Tan Phu and Hoc Mon districts increased the dissemination of the procedures for e-ID card application via Zalo app. The two police units also deployed "Q&A" chatbots to answer people's queries about e-ID cards.
Particularly, the police forces of the districts deployed many mobile boots to receive applications and issue e-ID cards for people at residential quarters.
In doing so, they saved time for the e-ID card applicants and contributed to preventing the spread of the pandemic.
