The Traffic Police Department under the Ministry of Public Security on June 20 launched an intensive campaign against traffic safety violations on roads and inland waterways nationwide in an effort to reduce traffic accidents.

Accordingly, traffic police forces nationwide will mobilize maximum efforts and means to spread the blood alcohol regulations at restaurants, bars and pubs while seriously handling drunk-driving cases. State officers who offend the regulations will be reported to their offices.

Next, traffic forces will check and strictly handle overloaded vehicles and illegally-extended vehicles.
Another traffic offence that traffic police will handle seriously during the campaign is speeding. Accordingly, traffic police will set up checkpoints on highways and at urban areas, where traffic accidents often occur.

Apart from traffic police forces to be deployed to roads to directly check and handle traffic offences, traffic police units will also fine violated vehicles via traffic cameras.

The final content of the campaign is to enhance traffic safety on inland waterways. Traffic police aim to restore the traffic order on inland waterways by checking all watercrafts for traffic safety and traffic registrations.

Traffic police will retake operational licenses of any watercrafts that do not meet traffic safety conditions. Additionally, traffic police will ask river ports, wharfs and stations to seriously observe traffic safety regulations and ban watercrafts that do not meet operational conditions.

The campaign will be carried out nationwide from June 2 to September 20.
