At the invitation of the Secretary of Justice of the Republic of the Philippines, Minister of Public Security General Luong Tam Quang, leading a high-ranking delegation of the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam, paid a working trip to the Philippines from November 13–14 to attend the signing ceremony of the ASEAN Extradition Treaty.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh met with Brunei’s Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Timor-Leste Prime Minister Xanana Gusmão on the sidelines of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on October 28.
Thirty years ago, on July 28, 1995, Vietnam’s accession to ASEAN marked a historic strategic decision, opening a new chapter in the country’s integration process and beginning its strong rise.
The ASEAN flag-hoisting ceremony is observed by the 10 ASEAN member countries on August 8 every year, aiming to spread and promote the ASEAN identity and affirm the determination to unite and cooperate for the common aspiration of long-term peace and prosperity of Southeast Asian countries under the common roof of the ASEAN Community.
Vietnam is ready to accompany AIPA in creating a strong and prosperous ASEAN where development leaves no one behind and cooperation is limitless, said PM Pham Minh Chinh.
