Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc works with police in South Central Coast

PSNews – Major General Nguyen Duy Ngoc, Deputy Minister of Public Security, led a delegation of the Ministry of Public Security to work with police departments of Da Nang city, Quang Nam province and Quang Ngai province on January 18.

The Deputy Minister hosted a meeting with the participation of leaders of the police departments of Da Nang city, Quang Nam and Quang Ngai province and representatives of relevant units under the Ministry of Public Security.

During the meeting, the delegate review the implementation of he project on building national population database and the project on electronic ID cards; the deployment of Plan No. 105 of the Ministry of Public Security on the campaign to call on people to surrender weapons, explosives and supporting tools; as well as the implementation of the Government’s Decree No. 137 on the management and use of fireworks.

At the meeting representatives of the local police units briefed the Deputy Minister and other delegates on the public order and security situation in their localities as well as the progresses of the project on building national population database and the project on electronic ID cards.

They also reported on the implementation of Plan No. 105 of the Ministry of Public Security to call on people to surrender illegal weapons, explosives and supporting tools to the authorities, and the deployment of the Government’s Decree No. 137 on the management and use of fireworks.

According to reports, all three police units set up project management boards and actively coordinated with the Police Department on Administrative Management of Public Order as well as Vietnam Post to implement project on building national population database.

By January 16, 2021, the Da Nang Municipal Police Department had collected residence information about 98.1% of the city’s population while the figures in Quang Nam and Quang Ngai were 99.99% and 99.6%, respectively.

The three police units also counted the number of people from the age of 14 without ID cards so as to issue new-style ID cards to them by July.

At the meeting, local police officials pointed out several difficulties in implementing the two projects, and discussed solutions to various issues.

Over the past time, the three police units have carried out campaigns to call on people to surrender illegally-stored weapons, explosives and supporting tools. As a result, people in the three localities have given up hundreds of guns of all kinds, thousands of rounds and hundreds of shells and bombs to the local police.

Speaking at the meeting, Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc praised the police forces in the three localities for their efforts rand achievements.

He stressed the importance of the project on national population database and the project on electronic ID cards, saying that the two projects contribute significantly to maintaining local order and security.

Regarding Plan No. 105 of the Ministry of Public Security, the Deputy Minister urged the local police forces to strictly handle cases with the storage and use of illegal weapons, explosive and supporting tools.

Deputy Minister Nguyen Duy Ngoc also asked police units in Da Nang city, Quang Nam province and Quang Ngai province to enhance information dissemination on the Government’s Decree No. 137 to raise people's awareness about the dangers of firecrackers.

All police forces in the three South Central coastal localities should focus on the fight against crimes of all kinds during the Lunar New Year festival, the deputy minister requested.
