Minister To Lam meets with Chinese Secretary of the Political and Legal Affairs Commission

The meeting was also attended by Member of the Party Central Committee and Deputy Minister of Public Security of Vietnam Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To.

Welcoming Minister To Lam and his entourage to China, Mr. Chen Wenqing spoke highly of the results of the cooperation between Chinese law enforcement agencies and the Vietnamese Ministry of Public Security in recent times.

On the basis of the traditional and close-knit friendship between the two countries, Minister To Lam proposed that the two sides improve the effectiveness of cooperation mechanisms, strengthen multilateral security cooperation, jointly maintain an environment of peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world while coordinating in the fight against transnational crimes.

The guest also suggested supporting the Ministry of Public Security of Vietnam in training Vietnamese officers and building capacity of the Vietnamese law force.

*On the same day, Minister To Lam had a meeting with Chinese Minister of Justice He Rong. Senior Lieutenant General Tran Quoc To also attended the meeting.

At the meeting, Minister To Lam and Chinese Minister of Justice He Rong discussed orientations for cooperation between the two sides in the coming time, agreeing that the two sides need to further exchange of delegations at all levels, support each other in personnel training, and share experience in prison management and law making.

The two sides also agreed to speed up the progress of negotiations and signing of an agreement on the transfer of people sentenced to prison between Vietnam and China.

Minister To Lam also asked the Chinese Ministry of Justice to ensure the legal rights and interests of Vietnamese citizens serving prison sentences in detention facilities in China.
