MPS leader asks innovative approaches to ensure fire safety
PSNews - The Ministry of Public Security (MPS) held an online conference on May 24 in Hanoi to review results after one year of implementing the intensive campaign against fire and explosion in residential areas, households, and shophouses.
Deputy Minister of Public Security Major General Nguyen Van Long chaired the conference.
A report at the conference read that, during the intensive campaign from April 15, 2021 to April 15, 2022, fire police agencies nationwide made great efforts to prevent fire safety in residential quarters, households, and shophouses.
Particularly, the Police Department for Fire and Rescue under the MPS closely coordinated with news agencies and radio stations to popularize fire safety regulations and fire escape skills to all people.
Meanwhile, local fire police in coordination with local information and communication agencies to instruct residents to install and use the 114 Fire Alarm application, access the account of the Fire and Rescue Police Department on Zalo to get information about fire safety regulations.
The fire units nationwide also developed various effective models and movements of fire prevention and fighting in residential areas, mobilized people to join local firefighting teams, installed public fire-fighting equipment in small alleys.
Additionally, the fire police units advised commune-level People's Committees to establish inter-sectoral working groups to inspect and guide households and businesses to have proper fire safety plans and ask them to make commitments to ensuring fire safety.
The police also organized training courses on fire prevention and fire-fighting skills for leaders of districts, communes, and commune-level police posts.
Regarding measures to prevent large fires, the Fire and Rescue Police Department comprehensively inspected fire-fighting plans and efforts at its sub-units and local fire-fighting agencies while requesting the fire police forces to always stand ready for fighting fire, train new fire-fighting methods for firefighters, and seriously draw lessons from fire incidents.
After one year, people, businesses and organizations have all improved their awareness of and sense of responsibility for fire prevention and safety. Moreover many individuals and organizations voluntarily participated in fire safety movements and self-managed firefighting teams in localities.
Three out of the 63 provinces and municipalities saw no fire while 52 reduced the number of fire incidents during the one-year period
Speaking at the conference, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Long praised the efforts and work results of the fire police force in the past year.
Deputy Minister Long emphasized that it is necessary to review and evaluate fire-fighting models to increase the efficiency of fire prevention and fighting work in the localities. Good models should be popularized, the MPS leaders stressed.
He also asked the fire police to reevaluate possible causes of fire in the new situation and regularly practice fire-fighting skills.
Firefighting units should stay alert around the clock to rescue people and extinguish fire while ensuring that all fire equipment and vehicles assigned to them are always in a good condition and can be used to deal with fires and explosions immediately, the Deputy Minister asked.
