Vietnam made much progress in protecting women and young girls in cyberspace

The Department for Cyber Security and High-Tech Crime under the Ministry of Public Security coordinated with the Vietnam National Cyber Security Association and the United Nations Office to Gender Equality and Women's Empowerment (UN Women) in Vietnam organized a seminar with the theme "Women, peace and cyber security - Strengthening cyber security and protecting privacy of women and young girls in cyberspace in Vietnam", on November 22, in Hanoi.

The meeting focused discussion on key issues, such as review of the implementation of the Cyber Security Law and recommendations on the protection of women and girls in the context of digital transformation, strengthening cybersecurity and personal data in communications through the approaches of the United Nations Agenda on Women, Peace and Cyber Security (WPS) with the pillars of prevention, protection, engagement, relief and recovery.

Acting Chief Representative of the UN Women Office in Vietnam Caroline Nyamayemombe stated, Vietnam had made important contributions.

Especially, Vietnam took the lead in implementing the United Nations Security Council Resolution (in 1889) calling for making global indicators for implementing the WPS agenda and changing the approaches to protect women in conflict and post-conflict contexts.

In addition, on October 25, Vietnam made a statement on behalf of ASEAN during the Security Council's open debate on women, peace and security in New York.
