Minister To Lam worked with the MPS’s Institute of Science and Technology
General To Lam, Minister of Public Security had a meeting with the Institute of Science and Technology (IST) under the Ministry of Public Security (MPS), on October 21.
At the meeting, Major General Le Minh Quy, director of the IST briefed the minister and delegates on results of the institute’s task performance over the past time, saying that the IST has successfully implemented important state-level research projects and conducted various research projects annually assigned by the MPS.
Particularly, there were three key research projects on methods of preventing, controlling and investigating serious crimes such as hi-tech crime, drug crime, and chemical, biological and radioactive terrorism.
In response to the COVID-19 pandemic in Vietnam, the IST successfully researched and produced ozone- and UV- based equipment to disinfect documents, automatic body temperature measurement device and as well as full body disinfection gate and hand sanitizer liquid.
It also successfully researched the “Nanobody” product in support to COVID-19 treatment laying foundation for background technology and different products.
Speaking at the meeting, Minister To Lam asked the IST to further identify opportunities, challenges and impacts of the development of science and technology on the public security sector.
Therefore, the IST must actively build strategies and plans to invest in modern facilities so that it can be able undertake larger scale research projects in the future.
"Striving to build the IST as one of the major technology research and application centers in the public security sector on a par with developed countries in the region," the Minister emphasized.
